Into the Darkness, 12/1/08** Taking the Journey Inward to Find the Light In near blackness, a spiral of evergreen winds across the floor circling inward to the center of the room. The light of a tapered, beeswax candle shines alone at the heart of the spiral, offering comfort as our eyes adjust to the darkness. The aroma of freshly cut pine permeates the room as a singing harp fills our hearts with “Hallelujah!” The whispers of eager children remind us why we are here; December means Advent-time at our Waldorf school.
Creating Happy Holidays, 11/20/08 Finding A Few Favorite Things As the Holidays approach, we may find ourselves anticipating them with Comfort and Joy, or Dread and Despair. The taste of an oven roasted turkey, the gathering of family and friends, the shopping for food and gifts, the sending of cards, the decorating of houses – ours and for those little gingerbread folks! – the traveling, the weather, and so on. Each of these things can cause joy AND despair, and although the Holidays are quickly approaching, we do have choices in how we approach the Holidays.
Gentleness, Love and Support, 10/26/08 Easing the Contractions of Life As many of you may have noticed, I love to use the analogy of birth as we develop into the new selves we are becoming! At this point in consciousness, we are now in the “birth canal” and are noticing all those painful and frightening contractions. Whether you have had children or not, or have witnessed a birth doesn’t matter; we have all been born into the human world in one way or another and it is quite fitting to remember this process as we are birthing into greater, more evolved human-spiritual beings.
Decisions, Decisions, 7/1/08** Trusting Our Choices Right now you are likely feeling completely split over just about every decision in your life. Do I do THIS or THAT? You listen, ponder, analyze and even wait for a sign from the Universe. Yet, the “answer” is far from clear and confusion reigns with an iron fist!
Freedom From Form, 6/13/08 Breaking Rules In my practice, I find, again and again, a pattern in which “doing the right thing” and “doing what we are supposed to do” can lead to a big, hard wall.
From the time we are small children we are taught rules. They help form us, keep us safe and even “on the right track.” Rules attempt to create order out of chaos. Or, perhaps prevent perceived possible problems (say THAT five times!).
Insights on Doing Nothing, 5/29/08 Allowing Nothingness Earlier this week, at my Illuminations talk at East West Books, I offered some thoughts about the experiences we are having as well as things we can do to help ease our discomforts.
Healers Needing Support, 5/19/08 An Email Conversation with a Healer-Client Over the last couple of weeks, I have received numerous emails and calls for support from people I would consider “Healers.” As sensitive people, we are often more in tune with the shifts in the collective consciousness. To say the least, things are a bit intense right now!
