Sacred Dance is an ancient, primal art where dance, music and intention express and create a desired outcome - whether for specific needs, pure pleasure or for worship. Sacred Dances could be offered by or for an individual, tribe or community, as well as Gods and Goddesses.
For centuries, virtually every culture around the world practiced Sacred Dance in one form or another. From Rain Dances to traditional Belly Dancing to the Hula, dance has been recognized as a powerful way to commune with the Divine, not to mention a joyful way to celebrate life on earth!
Today, as the pendulum swings away from the linear, structured world of the Divine Masculine, it moves toward awakening the fluid, intuitive realm of the Divine Feminine. Balancing our inner and outer worlds of duality with the re-membering of Oneness.
Similar to Reiki, Tai Chi and Yoga, Sacred Dance acknowledges and honors both the spiritual and physical aspects of ourselves, thus, allowing us to integrate these energies - and other seemingly "polar opposites" (yin/yang, light/dark, etc.) - within us.
Sacred Dance can be experience by and for oneself through movement, presented and offered to others with Love and Intention, or gratefully received while witnessing the movement of another Sacred Dancer.
Sacred Woman, Sacred Dance: Awakening Spirituality Through Movement and Ritual
"The Goddess holds the key to the most ancient forms of sacred dance; she is inextricably linked to dance. Dance was the principal form of worship of the Goddess. In some cases, in addition to her role as creator, giver, and protector of all life, the Goddess herself was a dancer, celebrating through dance the cycles of the seasons and the cycles of life. It is here then, with the Goddess, that we begin our journey into the world of sacred dance."
Path of the Priestess: A Guidebook for Awakening the Divine Feminine
"In the midst of the forest, on the mountaintops, along the riverbanks and the shores of the sea, in the temples and monasteries, we would gather together to perform these sacred rites. We danced by the light of the moon, raised our voices in song and prayer, conversed with the myriad forms of divinity through our sacred gestures, and sat together in silent communion with them."
